For my senior thesis project, I worked on creating gender affirming apparel for non binary people. I focused specifically on obscuring traditionally masculine features, while highlighting feminine ones. The goal was to create a piece which could fit into an office environment while still creating androgyny for someone who was assigned male at birth.
I interviewed several amab non-binary people for the project, and discovered that a lot of their discomfort with the current clothing market came from a lack of subtlety feminizing clothing as many of the more feminine clothing options for people without breasts or hips tends to lean in the direction of being overly revealing or highly attention grabbing.
