Little Caf Bags

During quarantine, I opened an Etsy shop to sell limited edition art supply bags made from upcycled upholstery scraps. This shop taught me valuable skills around time management, presentation, and marketing. The patterns I designed to make these bags are extremely flexible, as the upholstery scraps that I used to make them varied in thickness and flexibility. After doing a run of small supply bags, I made a series of tote bags with dividers.

The tote bags were more successful than the small supply bags had been. I think this was partly because the quilted sides of the bags displayed the recycled material in a more meaningful way. The most difficult part of the design of these bags was trying to get the center divider to stand up on its own without pulling too much on the sides of the bag.
